About Neutonic

Neutonic is a UK-born "productivity drink" brand founded in November 2023 by fitness author James Smith and Chris Williamson, host of the Modern Wisdom podcast. It makes a zero-sugar nootropic energy drink and is now pushing into the US.

The Pitch

Smith has described the idea as productivity being "the next fitness." The target is the person who already drinks energy drinks in the gym and now wants something for the desk, the side hustle, or the long afternoon. The brand also set out to fix a taste problem. The founders have said most competitors they tested were too sweet, and Williamson took the lead on flavor development.

The Formula

The flagship Productivity Drink is a 330ml zero-sugar can. The brand prints these doses per can:

  • Cognizin citicoline (500mg), a patented form of the choline compound used in brain-health formulas
  • Rhodiola Rosea (400mg), an adaptogen studied for stress-related fatigue
  • L-Theanine (400mg), the tea amino acid used to take the edge off caffeine
  • Panax Ginseng (200mg), a botanical extract rich in ginsenosides
  • Caffeine (120mg), which the brand says is designed to replace a coffee
  • B Vitamins

That caffeine number is modest next to the 200mg-plus cans that dominate the category. The formula leans on the nootropic stack instead of a big stimulant hit, and the doses are disclosed on the label. The brand's flavors have included Tropical Ice, Wild Citrus, and Blue Raspberry, and the lineup rotates.

Beyond the Can

The range extends past the drink into Brain Capsules, powdered Focus Blends, creatine sticks and small Focus Pouches. The brand says it has sold more than 7.5 million cans since launch.

Neutonic is for people who want a lower-caffeine, nootropic-forward alternative to the standard energy drink, backed by creator-led marketing and a transparent label. It is one of the more visible "focus first" brands in the category.
